What is the “bezel” for?

The Redux watch is not only used to tell time but offers more than that. It can be used to time a dive, a racing lap or any other activity when you need to time an event such as crosswind speed or taking a pulse. This has to do with the movement of the watch, which is known as the bezel.

The bezel is part of the case and surrounds the watch’s crystal. You will find that it is crafted in such a way that not only is  it easy to grip but it also has clear and distinguishable markings  such as the luminous triangle and engraved numbers to make even reading your watch underwater easy.

Wondering how the bezel works?

Like many diving watches, Redux watch integrates a Triple Function unidirectional bezel.  The bezel is unidirectional in order to keep firmly in place. This ensures that even if you bump or rotate the bezel accidentally, the accuracy is preserved and it can only increase the apparent elapsed time. This is a “fail safe” feature for a diver.

Aside from being part of its aesthetic, the bezels serve practical uses.  Divers can use this to monitor their air supply, You may need a timer for your mile-long run, personal workouts in the gym or even for timing the steaks on the grill.

The bezel is an integral component that is simple to utilize.

The “start mark” is located at the zero-point – use this to indicate the starting point when timing events. It is aligned opposite to the watch’s’ minute hand and timing is done by reading off elapsed time on the bezel as time passes by comparing the minute hand placement with the numbers printed on the bezel.
